Culminating in his eight years as Mayor of Burlington, Ontario, Rick has gained unique perspectives in dealing with complex issues, including multi-million-dollar budgets, city and regional expansion projects as well as development and human resource issues.
Having in the past worked as a Senior Financial Advisor at Assante Financial Management, Rick holds Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) designations, and was elected President of the Hamilton chapter of Advocis: the Financial Advisors Association of Canada.
Now, after completing his service as Mayor, Rick has founded Goldring Financial Leadership Inc. All his knowledge and expertise gained through the years has given him the ability to build big picture strategic wealth and risk management plans that meet his clients’ needs and protect what matters most.
Rick and his wife Cheryl live and work in Burlington, enjoying time with their seven daughters and five grandchildren.

Currently serving on the board of the Municipal Employer Pension Centre of Ontario (MEPCO), Rick is a Rotary “Paul Harris Fellow” and is a member of the Rotary Club of Burlington-Lakeshore. A Canadian Association of Gift Planners member, he also serves on the board of the Hamilton Health Services Foundation’s Gift Planning Committee.
Past board service includes the Association of Municipalities of Ontario, Burlington’s Performing Arts Centre, Chamber of Commerce, Economic Development Corporation, Family YMCA, Burlington Hydro and the Halton Community Housing Corporation.
